Joan Patricia

Sutcliffe

November 2, 1926 ~ December 25, 2007

Mom passed away peacefully on December 25th with her children by her side.  She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son Mike (Pat), daughter Judy (Terry), 3 grandchildren Christine, Brent, and Suzanne, and 4 great grandchildren Sage, Elijah, Tori, and Gage. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Fred.  Mom also leaves behind three very special friends--Joy, Myra, and Charlotte.

Mom was born and raised in Vancouver but called many places in Canada home.  Fred was a member of the Armed Services and so the family moved with him frequently as he was transferred from one base to another.  For the last 20 plus years the Comox Valley has been her home.

In her younger years, Mom loved to golf, curl, paint, and spend time with family and friends.  As failing health and arthritis began to take its toll, Mom confined her interests to family and traveling on cruises.  She also loved to shop and was well known for buying the “occasional” piece of jewelry.

Mom loved to laugh and will always be remembered for her great sense of humour.  More than anything else, she loved her children and she was so very proud of them.

Our family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Glacier View Lodge for making the last 15 months of Mom’s life so happy and fulfilling.  We also very much appreciated the care and concern they showed to all of our family during this difficult time.  We would also like to thank Dr. Kenny for his caring professionalism and constant communication during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

A celebration of Mom’s life was held at the Comox Valley Funeral Home on January 3rd.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Glacier View Lodge would be appreciated.
