Joan was born in Flin Flon in 1936 and passed away on November 12 in Comox from cancer (myeloma). She is predeceased by her father, Garner Bensen, her mother, Norma, and her brother, Glen.
Joan leaves her husband, Jack, daughters Robyn (Bob), Lauri (Ron), four granddaughters: Keli, Rycki (Branden), Shea, Brett and a great grandson, Jace.
Joan was passionate about gardening. She worked tirelessly in her garden and was very proud of some of the plants that she had researched and planted. She was also a very fervent supporter of aerobics. She was the founder and leader of the Union Bay Aerobic Club (known as TAC to some of its members). She cherished that group, which is a very social organization, as friends for some twenty-five years.
At Joan’s request there will be no funeral service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Camacho, Dr. McLaughlin, and the many nurses at St. Joseph’s for their care and compassion during Joan’s illness.
Please, no flowers but should you choose to do so please donate to your own favorite charity.
