Joan C. Wright
Born in Rock Bay, BC, February 19, 1942 to Lillian & Earl Luoma. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Joan passed away unexpectedly September 26, 2008 of a heart attack. It was her wish to ‘go quickly’ when it was time to go and she did.
Her garden, yaking on the phone, full moons, thunder & lightning and animals, especially her dog Minoux, who passed away May 17, 2008, were things she loved. She was passionate about “righting the wrongs’ in this world and suffered greatly at times. Joan worked for a time in Hobbies, married Bob Wright in 1958 and had two daughters, then worked at Leungs Grocery for 20 years before retiring due to MS.
Joan volunteered with the MS Society, Womens Support Center, Council of Canadians, Crisis Line, NDP, Green Party and wrote many a letter to the editor.
Predeceased by her father, mother, sisters Angela & Camille; she will be missed by daughters Trish (Dave) Reid and Kelly Wright, granddaughters Jennifer (Trent) Balon, Erin (Ken) Dunsire, and James (Pat Atagi) Reid, niece Thea Bowering, brother-in-law George Bowering, great-grandchildren Tyler and Baylee Balon, Aidan Reid, Nick and Issac Dunsire, extended family and friends. Thanks to Colette, Gwen and Graham, Pat and everyone else for your friendship and kindness to Joan.
To Geoff Kirk – Thank you for taking the time to yak and keeping her yard in good order.
To Jolene – Thank you for making her dealings with your office so much easier and for treating her with dignity and respect.
Celebration of Life will be on October 12, 2008 at 2943 Lupton Road, Courtenay, BC 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Everyone welcome to drop by. In lieu of flowers be kind to animals and next time you see a full moon, go out and howl. She would love that.
We love you,
Trish and Kelly
