John Alexander ALLANSON

ALLANSON - John Alexander Allanson, passed away in Grand Forks on October 12, 2007 after a short battle with Leukemia. John was born in Comox , BC on November 18, 1941 and grew up in the Comox Valley. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Frances; sisters Pat, Jacquie, Debbie, and Janet; his son, Jaybe and daughter -in-law, Darlene, along with his granddaughter Audrey; and his best friend, Roland. John graduated from Courtenay High School in 1959 and began climbing the ranks of Rayonier Canada from 1964 to 1987 eventually becoming General Manager, Employee Relations for both Western Forest Products and Western Pulp. After a short stint at Canada Post in 1988 he found his place at Weldwood of Canada as Director Employee Relations and worked until his retirement in 2003. Once retired, John did not slow down, helping first with renovations of his son's house and then building his retirement home in Grand Forks, BC. He was proud of his accomplishments and loved his family. A celebration of his life will be held at the Metrotown Hilton, 6083 McKay Avenue, Burnaby, on October 25, at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grand Forks Community Trails Society, Box 2921 Grand Forks, BC, VOH 1H0.
