John passed away on January 2, 2020. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 10, 1928.
John was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He joined the Royal Navy when he was 16 years old for 12 years. He was a Telegraphist on Mine Sweepers and his navy career took him to many locations including Malta, Gibraltar, Cambodia and Hong Kong amongst others.
John married Margaret in 1949 and they had three children: Michael, Ruth and Louise. He continued to serve with the Naval Air crew then he operated a Used Car Dealership in St. Austell, England.
The family emigrated to Comox, Canada in the late 1960's where he worked at the English Car Centre for two years, then worked as a Realtor for over 25 years until he retired at 75. He was an avid fisherman, a great story teller and never afraid to give his opinion and stand by it!
Predeceased by Michael, his son. Survived by Margaret, his wife, daughters Ruth and Louise (Scott), and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
No service as per John's request. No flowers please, if you wish to donate, please donate to a cause of your choice.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Comox Valley Hospital on the 3rd floor and Emergency ward, as well as, Dr. Slemko and Dr. Gregory.
