1947 ~ 2024
John Duncan Clark left this world peacefully on November 8, 2024 with a sound mind and happy heart but a body no longer able to support life as a result of an aggressive blood cancer.
He had a happy childhood and relished his youth during the 1960's in Vancouver. John grew up in Vancouver and spent summers on Bowen Island. He graduated from UBC with a degree in Urban Geography. He and Zoë met at UBC while earning their primary teaching certificates and began their teaching careers in Christina Lake, B.C. in 1974. After a couple of years there, they found themselves in Comox. John retired in 2001 and pursued travel and his hobbies. He was passionate about his job, life and his interests. He was enthusiastic about all of his pursuits: teaching, exploring cultures of the world, photography and painting. He was the ultimate Bob Dylan fan and later added passions for F1 racing, collecting automobilia and owning sports cars. He was always welcoming to others, smiling and showing a genuine interest in strangers and friends alike.
He is leaving behind his wife of nearly 50 years, Zoë Levitsky, his niece Calico Clark and her family in Powell River as well as many cousins. John relied on blood transfusions for the last year of his life to survive. Please consider becoming a blood donor if you aren't one already.
A celebration of his life will be held sometime in the new year.
