John Csondes

August 8, 1937 - October 28, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Csondes announce his passing on October 28, 2017 at Ocean View Care Home in Comox, B.C.

Leaving behind the Hungarian Revolution in 1957 John boarded a Red Cross plane and landed in Edmonton. His journeys took him all over Alberta and BC where he eventually settled in Prince Rupert. John worked at the Skeena Pulp & Paper mill for the majority of his working life, retiring in 2002.

John loved the outdoors and spent countless weekends on the Skeena river fishing and camping. When he retired in the Comox Valley, he could be found at his happy place fishing along the banks of Campbell River.

Even in his last moments he was casting a line in his thoughts.

John was an adventurous man who enjoyed meeting new people, socializing and telling his stories. In his heyday he fancied himself a pretty good soccer player, but as the years went by he prided himself on being a great grandpa who loved his family very much.

Thank you to the amazing staff at St. Joseph's Ocean View including Dr. Hunter and Dr. Lamykina for the wonderful care and compassion of John.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donations in John's memory to a charity of your choice.

A funeral will take place at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 1599 Tunner Drive, Courtenay on Saturday, November 4th at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.
