John E. Ferguson passed away on June 24, 2006 in loving care at his home in Comox, B.C. Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret, he is survived by his children, Jim of Comox, B.C., Sherry (Goshinmon) of Victoria, B.C., John of Burnaby, B.C. and Melody (Shilling) of Comox, B.C. Grandchildren: Terri Lee, Jamie, Reyna, Karah, John, Jay and great-grandchild Jordan. He loved all of his family deeply and felt great strength in their presence.

John and his family immigrated to Canada from South Wales in 1929, settled in Anyox, B.C. and later in Vancouver in the 1930’s. John excelled in sports, especially lacrosse being a notable player for the New Westminster Salmon Bellies. He was an avid golfer, sportsman, hunter, and fisherman. He enlisted into the RCAF in 1941 and served his country during the War years and until he retired from the Air Force in 1968 as Warrant Officer after his final posting in Ottawa. Resettling in Cloverdale, B.C. John enjoyed an illustrious career in the golf industry from greens keeping to management. He made his mark in the business contributing greatly to the Surrey Golf Course and Fort Langley Golf Course. Settled in Comox in 1973 where he contributed to the improvements of Comox Golf Club, Pacific Play Grounds, and most notably, Glacier Greens where he retired as superintendent.

His tremendous sense of humor and general love of life appealed to all. There was never a dull moment around John and a good laugh was always a part of the conversation.

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Wale and all the home care nurses for their unbelievable help during the final month of John’s life.

A Celebration of his life and Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Air Force Association, 888 Komox Wing, Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. He will be sorely missed.
