STEVENSON, John Grant

It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of our dear father and friend. John was born in Paisley, Scotland, June 26, 1941 and passed away on June 4, 2010.

Predeceased by parents William and Martha, and son in law Jack Anderson.

John is survived by his spouse Linda Stevenson of Duncan, BC, his son John in Courtenay, BC, daughters Jennifer Anderson in Calgary, AB and Charlene (Derek) Whiskin of Duncan, BC and grandchildren Corissa, Jared, Braedon, Jackson, Colby and Kaiya; and brother Bill (Pat) Stevenson in Winnipeg, MB and numerous nephews and nieces and other relatives.

John was an outspoken advocate and union member of IWA and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He spent some time in the Army, worked for APD Mill in Port Alberni, BC and at Hearsey's Transport for 23 years. He loved building models, camping and enjoyed being at his children's sports games. He loved detailing cars and swap meets.

He was outgoing and loved to help in social events. Always ready to lend a helping hand. A friend to all who knew him. He loved talking politics and had a sense of humour that will be missed. A very compassionate man.

Many thanks to all the nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital on the 2nd and 3rd Floors; to Dr. Tinmouth and Dr. Robertson for their special care. Also to his friend Bill for the newspapers and for being there. And to all our friends and families for their prayers.. donations to the BC Cancer Associated would be appreciated.

A Celebration of John's life will be held at the Church of Nazarene, 3036 Sherman Road, Duncan, BC on Sunday June 13, 2010 at 2:00pm.
