John, aged 74, left us on December 16th, 2021. He was diagnosed with ALS on November 1st, 2021.
Jack-of-all-trades, he loved the grocery business from Ryan wholesale in Campbell River, then Courtenay. He was poached by Overwaitea Foods in Courtenay ending up at the new store at Driftwood Mall. Later managing in Parksville, then Co-Op store in Courtenay along with Giant Foods in Port Hardy.
After leaving groceries, he purchased "Courtenay Security" and loved it for 10 years with his Doberman days and nights at venues, businesses and private homes.
Following retirement from security, John loved working at the Elks Hall covering all charities in the valley while joking with all the ladies.
John leaves behind his wife of 51-years, Janice, daughter Julie, son Jordan (Brittany) and two brothers; Glenn and Dave (Ellie), and sister Penny (Ron). Proud grandfather of Dustin, William, Lacey, Emma, Stella and Jack, and great grandson Taveon, along with many nieces and nephews.
