John William Holmes

In loving memory ~
John William Holmes, 71, passed away peacefully at Campbell River General Hospital with his two children by his side on April 30, 2023. This great man, Dad, Uncle and Grandfather was born on January 2, 1952, in Vancouver, BC to parents George Gerald and Mary Jean Holmes.
Although he beat most of his friends to the Pearly Gates, John did not live an average life. He spent the first half climbing the corporate ladder in the forest industry and the latter half of his days back and forth from his second home in Mexico, to making new friends at every bar stool he frequented. John was well known for his entertaining stories, being a sport aficionado, not holding back his opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. He always told you the truth even if it was a tough pill to swallow. His extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. With that being said, he was genuine to a fault, a pussy cat at heart, a mentor, coach and master chef in his day, much to our delight!
John is survived by his sister Kathleen Holmes, children: Jordanna Holmes (Andre Larose), and Tanner Holmes (Glenna Holmes), grandchildren: Brooklyn and Nolan Holmes & mother-in-law Deloraine Tadychuk.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife April Holmes, brother Steven Holmes, parents Gerry & Jean Holmes and beloved pets Buster, Steamer, Micro, Shanghai, Randy Jean and Chelsea.
Following his wishes, there will be a 'Celebration of Life' to be held in lieu of service at the Eagles Hall on July 8th from 1-4pm. He was never one for sentiment or religiosity, so come dressed in your brightest and let's have a drink in his honour.
He will be greatly missed.
