Thomson, Jorunele Margaret

Jorunele Margaret Thomson slipped away in her sleep on December 5th, 2003. She was born on March 31, 1926 in Norway to Lars and Hanna Stordal, she moved to Canada in 1928 with her family, where they lived on a homestead near Bonnyville, Alberta. She married, and then started a family in Bralorne, B.C. where she often said she had many of her happiest years. They moved to Vancouver Island in 1964 where she continued to reside until her passing. She retired in 1991 as a care aide at Glacier View Lodge. She was predeceased by her daughter Joanne, her brothers: Henry, John, and her sister Alice. She is survived by her husband Julian and her children: Robbie (Stuart) Epstein, Gordie (Maureen) Thomson, Jeffrey (Katie) Thomson and her grandchildren: Sophie and Stirling Hepburn, Heather Thomson, David and Hamish Thomson, as well as her brother Oscar. Jo loved nature and enjoyed both river and ocean fishing with Julian. She loved and was loved by her many animals over the years with whom she always seemed able to develop a special rapport. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved her. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 13th, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. from the CHAPEL OF PIERCY’S FUNERAL HOME, 440 ENGLAND AVE. There will be a time of viewing from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Following the service, friends are invited for a time of sharing and refreshments in PIERCY’S GLACIER TEA ROOM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to PIERCY’S FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM.
