Joseph (Bud) served and loved his country, his church and his family. Bud served a successful career of 32 years in the Canadian Armed Forces (Air Force). It was early in his military career that he met his loving wife of 64 years, Gloria. He and Gloria moved from base to base, from Ontario to Germany and back, and to northern Alberta and to the Comox Valley, where he retired. Bud and Gloria raised 5 children, Joseph (Stella), Stephen (Trudy), Theresa (Tom), David (Kim), and Dan (Joanne) who have since raised families of their own.
Bud and Gloria are blessed by 15 grandchildren, Alyssa, Matthew, Isaac, Luke, Joseph, Stephanie, Alexander, Madeline, Meghan, Jordan, Andrew, Justine, Ashley, Christopher, and Katie. They are also blessed by 5 great-grandchildren, Grace, Madeleine, Aiden, Aria, and Logan.
Bud served his church in many ways. He served on the St Joseph Hospital Board and volunteered for many years at Glacier View Long Term Care Home. Bud also proudly served in the Knights of Columbus Fraternal Brotherhood in Ottawa and as Grand Knight and District Deputy in the Comox Valley.
Bud loved to fish.
But what Bud loved most was dancing with his truly beloved Gloria.
Those that knew Bud, knew he was a hugger, not a shaker, and if you had a little one with you, he would have told you how blessed you were.
Bud was deeply loved and respected by his family. He was known as kind and wise. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
Prayers and visitation will take place on Friday, January 24th, 7 pm at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25th, 11 am from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church followed by burial at Courtenay Civic Cemetery.
