Joy Price (nee Wellington) passed away on Tuesday, December 3rd at the age of 78. Joy passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Gloucester, England and married the love of her life Brian in 1962. In 1974 the family emigrated to Canada to start a new life. She had a passion for flowers and was an amazing, talented florist for 40 years.
In 1990 Joy & Brian moved to Black Creek and dad built their retirement home. Tracy & Steven moved to the island shortly after. Mum loved living on the island. Miracle Beach and Buttle lake were her and dads favourite places. They were happily married for 40 years and until Brians death in 2002 were never apart.
She loved her garden, line dancing, and camping. In her later years she made many friends at the Campbell River Seniors Centre. Her family always came first and meant the world to her.
Joy is survived by her daughter Tracy, son Steven, daughter-in-law Terri, grandchildren Brandon, Coral (Eric), Cody, Christopher and great grandson Ashton and many friends near and far.
Heartfelt appreciation and thanks to our angel Terri for leaving her nursing position to be a full time caregiver to mum and enabling us to fulfill her wishes to be at home. We will never be able to thank enough Dr. Willem Prinsloo for his kindness, care and compassion and the community nurses on the North team.
A celebration of life will be held at Oyster Bay Resort Hall, 4357 South Island Highway, Campbell River on Saturday, January 25th at 1 pm.
