Brown

Joyce L. Brown, R.N.,

died peacefully in her husband’s loving arms on December 18, 2006. Joyce leaves behind her husband, Alan, of 51 years, her loving family and many dear friends.?

In 1954 mom graduated as an RN in Winnipeg and was presented with the Canadian Nurses Award.? As the wife of a fighter pilot and later military attaché she was required to move the family frequently; Mom did a seamless job of making every house a home, a total of 14 times in 3 different countries. Later in Dad’s career mom was essential as an entertainer and diplomat. When the transfer came to NORAD Headquarters in Colorado Springs it read... “we require Joyce Brown”. She was a gourmet cook and took pride in making an occasion out of every opportunity.? Mom had a dignity that could carry her into any room; she was at ease and at home in any environment, from extending her kindness and generosity at the soup kitchen to her elegance and eloquence at the State Department.? Mom’s compassion and ongoing commitment to extend a helping hand was shown through her many volunteer positions, including 15 years of service with the Cancer Society. Mom leaves behind a world of friends that were touched by her grace. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in mom’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC, #300 - 828 W. 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V5Z 1E2. or at www.alzheimerbc.org/donate2.php
