Joyce died June 2, 2006 at the age of 83. Born on 10th Avenue in Courtenay on June 23, 1922 to Max and Nora Blunt, early settlers of the Merville Soldiers Settlement. Joyce was schooled in Nanaimo and at U.B.C. and lived in Victoria where she taught at Central Junior High School. She briefly relocated to Vancouver before retiring to the Comox Valley on her beloved Vancouver Island. Joyce spent her retirement years supporting the music community and pursuing her love of golf, gardening and cats. She is survived by her daughter Nony James, special friend Sue Walden and many other friends. Donations may be made to the Comox Valley Youth Music Center or to the SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Piercy’s - Mt. Washington Funeral Home.
