Joyce Marie Rogers

September 9, 1929 - September 3, 2019
Mom passed away peacefully at North Island Hospital, Courtenay six days shy of her 90th birthday. Mom was born at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox and spent her early days living in Camp 3. Her family moved to Ladysmith in 1936. It was in Ladysmith when mom met the love of her life, Tom in 1948 and they married in 1951. They lived in Ladysmith, where their two daughters Kathy and Diane were born and eventually moved to Nitinat Camp and Lake Cowichan. Son Gary arrived in 1964 and they stayed in Lake Cowichan until 1980 then moved up island to Courtenay, where mom resided in her own home until the time of her passing.
Mom leaves behind her three children, Kathy, Diane (Rod) and Gary (Laura); six grandchildren, Jody (Blair), Kelly, Matt (Stephanie), Melissa (Conrad), Mark (Tanya) and Derek; nine great-grandchildren, Jakob, Brody, Mason, Mckenna, Kayden, Jada, Max, Charlie and Louis, one brother Dave (Berna), sister-in-law Verna, numerous nieces and nephews and some dear old friends.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Tom, parents Jim and Mary Robertson, son-in-law Jake, brother James Donald (Don) and nephew Donald James (Jim).
Many thanks to Lisa, Loralee, Jeanette, neighbour and friend John, VIHA, staff at North Island Hospital and Courtenay Medical Clinic for their kind and compassionate care given to Mom.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at her home from 2 pm-4 pm.
