Kari Anderson (nee: Ritter)

Dec 28, 1930 – Apr. 1, 2004

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, with her long-time caregivers, Ian and Marie Holm at her side.

Kari was an entertainer who loved to bring joy to the streets of the Comox Valley with her harmonica-playing, biblical messages, and jokes. The whole community will feel the loss of the unique character that Kari brought to the streets.

Kari’s six children and their families, as well as her caregivers and their family, would like to thank: Dr. Fehlau, Hardy Scott and other Mental Health staff, and St.. Joseph’s Hospital staff on the psychiatry unit and third floor, for their kindness and attention to Kari. A special thanks goes to Kari’s best friend, Ken Comar, who was always there for Kari, and whose love she treasured. Family and friends invite you to a memorial service for Kari to be held 3:00 pm Thursday, April 8th at EUREKA CLUBHOUSE, 280-4th Street, Courtenay. The service will be followed by refreshments and a time of sharing memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eureka Clubhouse. Contributions will be used to purchase the painting “Har-monica Lady”. This painting will then hang in the Clubhouse as a tribute to Kari and the many hours she spent entertaining others.
