July 27, 1939 – December 25, 2016
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother. Surrounded by her daughters and sister she passed peacefully just before dawn on Christmas morning. Karin (mom, nanny) will be remembered for her strength, fortitude and determination to live life to it’s fullest, and on her terms. She loved traveling, especially the road trips in the 33 footer. In the last 5 years she ventured off to Australia and Norway, keeping in touch with family and friends along the way. She was an incredible card player, loved to cook and had an amazing talent for needlepoint. These were the things that kept her busy while she was dealing with her various health issues that tried to knock her down in her final years. Our family would like to thank all of the staff at the Hospice with the Views who provided our mother and ourselves with exceptional care and compassion. We would also like to express particular thanks to her friends in the Comox Valley, who banded together to support and comfort her to the end. Karin will be deeply missed by her family and friends and will be remembered for the bright spirit that she was. At Karin’s request, a private memorial will be held at a later date. Those who wish may remember Karin by donating to the Comox Valley Hospice Society.
