November 24, 1926 – September 14, 2016

Kathleen (Betty) Moore was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox on August 4th, 1924. She passed away on October 6th at St. Joseph’s Hospital with her daughter Lynn, and special grandchildren Samantha and Nathan at her side.

Betty was a true pioneer of the Comox Valley, growing up in the Old Orchard area in Courtenay. She was an astute and successful businesswoman in a male dominant world and gave to her community through her involvement in the CRA (Courtenay Recreation Association) right from its inception, and was also an original donor to the Comox Valley Foundation when it was formed.

She was never afraid to voice her opinion and was a role model to many. Her beautiful genuine smile always made us feel so special. She loved playing cards with her friends and of course her many visits to Reno, Laughlin and Vegas!

She is survived by her daughter Lynn; grandchildren Kim (Jarvis), Nathan, Devin, Samantha (Alex), Nick, TJ, and Terra. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Jayden & Jenna, Kalen, Taylor, Cassie, Matthew, and Jocelyn. She also loved her four nieces Starr, Val, Dawn and Cathy.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Rosalie and Stuart Baker, and her son Terry.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the wonderful care Betty received while she was there.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held on Sunday, October 23rd at the Florence Filberg Centre in the Rotary Room downstairs from 2pm – 4pm.

Flowers are gratefully declined and for those wishing to, a donation could be made to the Betty Baker Moore Fund in the Comox Valley Foundation.
