Kathleen May "Kay"


Of Comox passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday, February 14th, 2009 at age 91. Predeceased by her husband Harold, sister Eleanor and brother George, Kay is survived and will be dearly missed by son Ted (Sharron); daughter Barbara Mandeville; grandchildren Susan Irvine (Brad Lemna), Karen Woodland (Lawrence Hagon), Cathy Louie (Gerry) and Steven Mandeville; great grandchildren Jessica, Rob and Tyler, as well as her nieces and nephews. In her youth, Kay was educated at St. Ann's Academy in Victoria and moved to the Comox Valley in 1944. In her leisure, she enjoyed oil painting, needlework and fishing. Kay traveled extensively, often in Rotary circles with her husband Harold while he served as District Governor. She had the unique distinction of being the daughter of a pharmacist, wife of a pharmacist and mother of a pharmacist. Her family would like to thank Dr. Cortez for her care and kindness as well as the staff at "People At Home" and the third floor at St. Joseph's Hospital. A gathering of family and friends in celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 27th at 2:00pm from Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay. Flowers are gratefully declined in consideration of donations in Kay's memory to a charity of choice. for those who wish to do so.
