Larry was born in West Virginia, USA. After graduating high school and attending college for
one year, he joined the US Airforce. He was stationed in various places in the US and Canada,
including Comox, BC, where he met Elsa, his soulmate, in 1970. They married in 1971.
After 7 1/2 years in the service he immigrated to Vancouver Island in 1976, to nurture his love
of the ocean, nature and to enjoy the slower paced lifestyle.
Larry worked at a saw mill in Nanaimo, BC (1976- 2000), while living in Cassidy and Parksville.
After that, Elsa and Larry moved back to their much loved Comox Valley in 2001 and worked at
various jobs until they retired in 2015.
Larry had many hobbies and interests that included traveling, camping, fishing, swimming,
golfing, puttering in his workshop, walking, as well as just relaxing on the deck reading while
listening to the many chirping birds that he fed.
He fought a tough battle with Spinal Stenosis for years and cancer in the last months of his
journey.
Elsa is grateful to all who stepped up and supported her in many ways. ·
Larry will be forever missed by Elsa, his 5 siblings and their families, all his in-laws in Canada and
many friends.
