It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Laura Elizabeth Dodge "Gramma Laura", our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunty after a lengthy battle with cancer. She died peacefully on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the age of 73, surrounded by her loving family.
Gramma Laura was born on October 7, 1947 in River Philip, Nova Scotia. She moved to BC in 1964.
Laura was a loving wife to Thomas Dodge 1967-1992 and remained good friends, mother to Shonnie (Maurice) Chabluk, Guy Dodge & Tammy (Troy) MacLeod. Sister to Johnny Thompson, auntie to Darren Thompson & Laurie Thompson (Farren), Grandmother to Tyson, Colt & Quinn Dodge, Abigail(Nate), Emily & Grace MacLeod, Beau Basarab (Kira) & Jasmine Basarab and Great Grandmother to Olivia Dodge.
She is predeceased by her father Harold Thompson, her mother Mary Thompson her daughter Shonnie Chabluk and her grandson Colt Dodge.
Many, many more knew and loved her as Gramma Laura.
Grandma Laura had a way of embracing everyone she met, made them feel the love she had to give. Her heart of gold was what she will be remembered for most. Her battle with 4 different cancers 3 in the last 3 years definitely took its toll on her but she is no longer suffering.
A celebration of life will be an informal gathering where we can share stories and memories which will be held later with the date and location yet to be determined.
