DAMER, Lawrence John

Larry passed away Saturday June 23, 2012 at home in Comox, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born January 23rd, 1932 in Winnipeg Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents John and Lucille and his infant son Jim.

He is already missed by his family; wife Denise, daughters Barbara (Doug), Kathleen, stepdaughter Leslie, son William (Noreen), step-son Martin (Star), grandchildren Sovay (Charles), Lucas, Erika, Thomas, Jordan (Adrianne), Megan, Tynan, Daniel, great grandchildren Neva, Kieran, Rowan and dear friend of many years Art.

He joined the RCAF as a young man which led to a lifelong career in electronics with the CBC, teaching at BCIT and finally CHEK TV, amongst others.

Larry’s interests were many and varied. As a young man he spent time hiking and exploring all over BC. Later he became an avid sailor of coastal waters. He loved to sing, had a beautiful bass voice and belonged, over time, to several choirs on the North Island. He was an intelligent, thoughtful man and his love of the natural beauty of BC led him to work on a number of environmental causes.

Larry was a big man and much loved. His passing leaves a big space in the hearts and lives of his family and friends. We will miss him forever.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Thursday, June 28th, 2012 at the Presbyterian Church on Aspen Road in Comox, at 1:30 pm.
