RUESCH, Leny (Magdalena)
August 10th, 1920 ~ July 16th 2010
Leny slipped peacefully from this world to reunite with her beloved husband, Hans. She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Leni, and son-in-law, Don Nickason of Courtenay; grandsons, Jim (Nancy) and Doug (Karen); great-grandchildren, Jacob and Grace, all of the mainland. Also, extended family in Switzerland.
Leny and Hans immigrated from Switzerland in 1952, made New Westminster their home, and operated a small business for 27 years. In 2004, Leny moved to the Comox Valley to be with her daughter.
She was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother, and was so proud that her daughter became the nurse that Leny had longed to be. Once she became an empty-nester, Leny took courses to assist in their business. She was an avid gardener, dressmaker and swiss-style cook and baker. The coffee was always on in her welcoming home and office.
Leny treasured her close friends and neighbours and her adoring cat, Suzie. Our heartfelt thanks to Doreen, Rose, Nancy, Sonal, Crystal, Brad, the Byrons and the Petersons for being there when she was well, and later in her decline.
Much appreciation to Dr. Matous for your care and compassion, even after-hours. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the CVSV for your nurturing and encouragement that brought out Leny’s sense of humour and the twinkle in her eye. You really made her feel “special”.
Private cremation arrangements. For those who wish, a donation in Leny’s memory to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
