October 24, 2018
Leo Buijs, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2018 after a brief and heroic battle with an aggressive cancer.

Born in the Netherlands, Leo emigrated to Canada in 1978 with his wife and two young boys.

He retired from a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry in 2003, which allowed him even more time to pursue his utmost passions of cycling, hiking and sailing. He enjoyed writing about these experiences and published many books and articles on these and various other subjects.

His life was filled with an abundance of love and many accomplishments, including his 50 year marriage to Marianne. Their passion for life took them on many adventures as they travelled around the globe.

Leo had a robust interest in current affairs which kept conversations flowing throughout his activities with his many social groups.

Wife Marianne, eldest son Joost (Melanie), and son Rikk (Stephanie), wish to thank all family, friends and healthcare practitioners for their compassionate support.

During mourning, the family will be gathering privately, therefore notification of a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.

Leo,

The small but caring circle we were is broken with your passing and hard to bear But your love, humour and understanding Will give us strength to start the mending.

Love,Your Bolk.
