Leonard Griffith of Comox, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Sunday, February 4th, 2007, at age 78. Predeceased by his father William “George”, mother Edith (McLeod), brothers William “Bill”, George “Bud”, sister-in-law Donna and son-in-law John Kilmartin. Len is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Davey); sons Randall (Charlotte) and Daniel (Dor), both of Courtenay; daughters Sherry (Biagio Ariganello) of Orillia, ON and Julia of Calgary; grandchildren: Mike, Mark and Janine Ariganello, Jodie and Jennifer Kilmartin and Brian, Drew, Rory, Ben, Ray and Jenna Hawes (Gareth Perkins); great-grandchildren: Devin, Isaiah and Preston; brothers: Gerald of Barrie, ON and Wayne (Gayle) of Sudbury, ON; sisters-in-law Vaughan (Bud) and Thora (Bill) both of Orillia; as well as 8 nieces and 11 nephews.

At the start of World War Two, Len joined the Lynx 99 Squadron of Air Cadets in Orillia and formed a boxing club called “The Orillia Squared Circle” for up and coming boxers. At age six, he went door-to-door selling items his parents had made to help earn money for the family during the depression years. A hardworking man who wore many hats: salesman, coin machine serviceman, construction worker, heavy equipment operator, transport, taxi and courier driver. He loved aeroplanes, hockey and taking his grandsons to countless minor hockey games. Private family service arrangements entrusted to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD.
