It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lilian Lord. On a sunny mid-August morning, with her family by her side, she slipped peacefully from this world. Lilian was a courageous woman who handled the pain, debilities, and frustrations of her final years with dignity and humour.
Lilian was predeceased by her husband Stan and four children: Freddy, Mary, Heather and Joan. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Margaret and Jerrri (Aron), and her son Walter (Marlene). Also missing her are grandchildren: David, Susie, Holly, Sam, Alex, Christina, David, Blake and Katy.
Lilian’s lifelong passion was teaching and caring for children. She founded and operated The Playhouse Daycare in North Saanich for close to thirty years. She played an important and integral part in the education and well-being of generations of children lucky enough to be part of her centre.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen Millar, Joan Rodrigue, the Home Support team, and the staff and residents at St. Joseph’s Extended Care Unit for their loving kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations, in Lilian’s name, to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Extended Care Unit Backyard Garden, 2137 Comox Ave., Comox, BC V9M 1P2. It is a place where she found peace, beauty, and joy to the end.
A Remembrance Service will be held October 28 at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Sidney, BC. Reception to follow.
