January 8, 2021
Linda passed away at her chosen time and place – January 8, 2021, in her home in Courtenay – with a joyful laugh shared with fortunate loved ones, and all the rest, family and friends there in spirit.
Linda’s journey took her from North Vancouver where she was raised, to Los Angeles where her talents in fashion design included producing the stage outfits for bands such as America.
After a few years she returned to Vancouver to work with Social Services, and then to Port Hardy and finally Courtenay where she worked and retired from a long-time position as Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools.
Linda loved all things musical, and was a multi-talented lifelong fibre artist, who generously bestowed gifts in the form of Norwegian sweaters for loved-ones, and hats and scarves for the homeless. More than anything though Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Predeceased by her parents, Eilert and Anna Nygaard, Linda is survived by her son Wade (Risha), her grandchildren Forest and River, her siblings Eva, Harold (Carolynne), Ken, and Wendy (Al) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Sincerest appreciation goes to Dr. Tanya Daws, the care providers at Jubilee Hospital and MAID BC. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Cancer Research or the charity of your choice.
