September 11th, 1929 - August 30th, 2009
Passed away surrounded by his loving family at home in Comox, B.C. on August 30th, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen Mary (nee Devine) in April of 1972, his dad Robert Bayes in April of 1973, his mom Lorena Mary (nee Gare) in May of 1995 and his brother Robert John in January of 1981. Willie is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife Ruby Wilson, his daughters; Debra Sayles of Nanaimo, B.C., Susan Bird of Nanaimo, B.C., Donna Cote of Nanaimo, B.C. and Linda Wilson of Prince George, B.C., 5 grandchildren in Nanaimo, 1 in Surrey, B.C. and 1 in Victoria, B.C., his sisters; Marie Mercer and Jean Maheux both of Orleans, Ontario as well as several nieces and nephews. Willie served his country in the RCAF from 25 Oct 1948 to 02 Aug 1980 finishing his military career at CFB Comox. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160 in Comox. A Service of Remembrance in Celebration of his Life and Poppy Service will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160 in Comox on Tuesday, September 15th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Victoria Coffey officiating.
