In Loving Memory ~ Company Founder Passes.
Loren Barr, the founder of Barr Electric recently passed away due to medical complications from a rare disease.
Mr. Barr introduced his firm to Comox Valley in 2003 and quickly became known as a versatile land and marine electrician, having honed his skills working for firms such as Canoe Cove Yachts, Victoria Marine Electric and other top class firms.
Having journeyman certification as a red-seal auto mechanic, electrician and telecommunications tech fit in ideally with the requirements needed for wiring and repairs on all classes of boats, from run-abouts to yachts and commercial fish boats. Over the years, he wired everything from dozens of houses, a west coast emergency first responder centre and even an award winning Studebaker.
It was reported that the fast growth of his business was also due to the simple reason that Loren returned phone calls, showed up on time and truly cared about his customers. In 2014 he was diagnosed with the same disease that took the life of Carl Sagan (astrophysicist), a man that Loren held in high esteem.
The company was sold on the condition that the same ideals would be upheld.
Loren is survived by sons Evan Barr (Raia) of Qualicum, Ethan Barr of Dawson Creek and brother John Barr of Vancouver Island.
