Louise Schouten passed away peacefully in Comox on September 19, 2019. She was predeceased by her father, Marcel Pratte and is survived by her mother Anita, spouse Carl Schouten, sons Yann and Jonathan, daughter Sara; grandkids Veronica, Sofia, Arlo and Aden, brothers Leon and Jean; sisters France and Claire.
Louise was a seamstress by trade and worked in the Quebec textile industry; she later found her calling working with children. Louise started her career as a volunteer in her children's school, moving from school to school as her children grew. She volunteered on various committees to represent francophones outside of Quebec striving to establish a French school in Comox. Louise became an Aide Peddagogique Specialisee (teachers Aid) and worked for the French school board for many years.
Louise could not sit still - she was always doing something. She loved making decorations for her school, friends, family or her vet clinic. When she was not doing that she would quilt or sew while listening to music. Her favorite holiday of the year was Christmas: decorating, wrapping, and giving gifts. Anyone who saw her Christmas village can attest to that.
Louise was a phenomenal mother, wife, daughter, and friend. She gave her love unconditionally, expecting nothing in return. She will be missed, but thoughts of her will turn any frown upside-down.
A celebration of her life will be held on 20 October 2019 13:00, at L'ecole au Couer du L'ile, 566 Linshart Rd, Comox, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALS
