MacKay, Lowell Duncan

4 May 1933 - 25 Oct 2004

Passed away unexpectedly at home at the age of 71.

Lowell was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to Melville and Velma (nee: Potter) MacKay. He leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Donna (nee: Leeder). He will be lovingly remembered by his son Cole, Grampa Lowell to Joshua, Courtney and Benjamin, daughter Shauna (Anthony Kester), Poppa to Ian and Miranda. He is also survived by his brother Kendall, uncle Ellis, sister-in-law Judith Ann and her husband Dominic, as well as nephews Dale and Jeff.

Lowell joined the military in 1953 and retired in 1980, after serving his country both at home and abroad. Art was one of his lifelong interests and he attended both the Ontario and Victoria Colleges of Art. The mural on the outside of the Comox Legion stands as a testament to his talent and ability as an artist.

Lowell loved all of nature and especially animals, so to honour him the family requests in lieu of flowers and cards a simple handwritten note or a donation to the local SPCA. A Celebration of Lowell’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, 1 November in the Upper Hall of the Comox Legion.
