RIEDLE, Lucille


Lucille Riedle, 69, widow of Emerson (1994) Mother and Grandmother, Provincial and Community Businesswoman and Leader, passed away suddenly at the St. Joseph's Hospital on February 14. Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, she was a graduate of the College Notre-Dame d'Acadie and the University of Moncton. Her extensive career found her part of the NB Department of Advanced Education and Labour, the NB Milk Marketing Board, the Memramcook Institute, the Francophone Summit, chair of the NB Advisory Council on the Status of Women, the Comox Valley Francophone Association, and served with the Competition Tribunal of Canada. She served on numerous boards including the BC Francophone Economic Council, the Francophone Olympic Committee, the NB Chapter of the United Nations Development Fund for Women, and Marine Atlantic. Lucille was also predeceased by parents Ulric Hachey and Beatrice (Hachey) Boudreau nee Picot and brother Bernen Hachey. She is survived by her children Heather Riedle of Courtenay, Bc; Shawn Riedle and wife Jennifer of Vancouver, BC; grandchildren Emma and Ben Green; sisters Stella Ann Daigle and Irma Smith and families; Brothers Gilles Hachey, Danielle Hachey and Edbert Hachey and families; and friends and loved ones from across the country.


A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 3:30pm at the Stan Hagen Theatre, North Island College in Courtenay, BC. In lieu of flowers donations to The Comox Valley Francophone Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Remembrances may also be shared at www.dignitymemorial.com
