Lyn Frank Usher

1944 – 2017

Lyn passed away in Comox Valley Hospice at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side after a hard fight with cancer and diabetes on June 20, 2017.

He entered The Royal Air Force between 1961 – 1972 serving in Aden, Cypress, and England, then worked in Zambia from 1972 – 1976, which he really enjoyed. Lyn went back to England and immigrated to Canada in 1979 with his son Andrew. In 1980, he owned a carpet shop for several years with his brother Alan, then he worked with Co-Operators Insurance moving to Courtenay in the early 90’s to operate his own office and retired in 2002. A few years later he started to visit with his son during the winter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where he met his wife Carmen. They spent their time between Courtenay and Puerto Vallarta until his illness prevented Lyn from travelling. Lyn kept active with his memberships with the 888 Wing, Royal Canadian Legion, RAOB and Mason’s.

He was predeceased by his parents Frank in 2005 and Helen in 2001 and is survived by his wife Carmen, children Andrew (Tami), Craig, Chris (Dori), granddaughter Allie, sister Maureen Thompson (Edward) and brother Alan as well as many nieces and nephews.

Donations made in Lyn’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Private family arrangements have been entrusted to Toneff Funeral Services.
