Lyn passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 16, 2018, surrounded by members of her loving family. Lyn is survived by her husband Brian Biart, sisters Julie and Elizabeth, and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, Australia, England and the US. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Wilma, and brothers Campbell and Raymond.

Lyn was born in 1944 in Echuca, a town on the Murray River in the Australian state of Victoria. She was educated in Bendigo, and worked there and in Melbourne until moving to Sydney in 1968. Six years later, she left for Canada, settling in Vancouver where she worked in accounting for Weldwood, a forest products company.

In 1978, she met Brian and they married in Sydney in 1983. For the next 8 years, they lived in Vancouver, escaping as often as possible to their sea-side cottage at Kye Bay on Vancouver Island. In 1991, Lyn and Brian moved to Comox permanently. Lyn then worked at Tyco Paving until her retirement in 2002. Over the years, Brian managed to overcome Lyn's resistance to fishing, converting her to an avid angler for salmon, especially off Point Holmes.

Curious and keen travellers, they made trips to Australia, Hawaii, and the continental US, and crossed Canada several times. At their immaculate home with its beautiful garden, they hosted countless gatherings of friends and family. It was a magnet for visitors from Canada and abroad. Here Lyn would effortlessly prepare spectacular meals amid the boisterous hubbub around her.

Lyn became a Canadian citizen in 2003 and retained her Australian citizenship. Both she and Brian took their civic responsibilities seriously and were involved in several federal political campaigns. In the summer of 2014, Lyn was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme. Following surgery and with continuing chemotherapy, she lived the last four years to the fullest - gardening, entertaining friends and family, engaging everyone she met with her warmth and zest for life. She was not shy in sharing her credo: "don't sweat the small stuff".

Lyn's family wishes to thank Drs. Susan Hunter, Tanya Austin, Stephen Matous, and Tanja Daws, as well as members of the Cancer Care Team at the North Island Comox Valley Hospital for their professional and

compassionate support. The considerate home services provided by staff of Island Health in recent weeks were also greatly appreciated. And the family is deeply grateful to Lyn and Brian's wonderful friends and

neighbours, who were there for her in so many ways.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be considered to the Cancer Foundation. In keeping with Lyn's wishes, a celebration of life is being planned.
