In loving memory ~
(Maj.) Brian Douglas MacGregor "MAC", age 79 of Comox, passed away on October 5, 2022 after a brief illness.
A self-admitted fortunate man, Brian lived a long life filled with family, friends, adventure, and communing with nature (and the kitchen). This obituary will omit so many people, places and fun, but Brian was always one to let you know that you were loved and appreciated. He never left you in doubt of his honesty, respect and affection.
Born on August 22, 1943 to Kenneth and Mary MacGregor, Brian spent his happy childhood in Thorhild, AB. Upon his graduation, Brian left to join the RCAF, eventually becoming a pilot. He served for 28 years, flying multiple aircraft, and living in so many places coast to coast. After service, Brian was involved with Flight Safety for both Transport Canada and the Jamaican Civil Aviation Authority.
Brian was a wonderful family man and friend. He took much joy from his adventures with his wife, children, friends and colleagues. An avid fisherman, athlete and cook, Brian thrived on laughter and friendly discussion (lol). He will be deeply missed by his wife, Rikka, his children, Trent and Krista, his grandchildren, Justine, Matthew, Fridrikka, Arwen, and Mila, his great-grandchildren, Ezra and Eli, his sisters, Ruth and Joyce, many beloved nieces and nephews on both his and Rikka's side of the family, and friends so great they were an extension of this loving family group.
Amidst all of his good fortune, were some sad losses. Brian was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Robert, Neale and Carol, his good friend Ian Gordon, as well as many close in-laws and colleagues.
The family wishes to thank Dr Rachel McKenzie, Island Health Home Support Services, the Aitken Community Hospice, Jenn Wells of Piercy's Funeral Home, and so many incredible people who cared for him at the end of his days. Brian was very grateful for the friendship of his fishing crew, the Comox crowd, and the Jamaica alumni. Please know how much your loving support has meant to Brian and his family.
Brian did not wish for a memorial service. His ashes will be spread in the middle of the country he loved on BaldursHaga, the family farm. So many unrelated people have commented that their reward for a good life would be to come back as a MacGregor family pet. If you would like to honour Brian, please give extra love and care to all animals, raise a glass, and be good to one another. Walk Good.
