Margaret Ann Lawson (Loverock), age 70, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on February 11, 2021 in her home in Fort Myers, Florida. She was born to her wonderful parents, Thomas "Jack" and Verna Loverock (Chapman), on June 27, 1950 in Vancouver, British Columbia and spent her adult life living in Fort Myers and Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada.
Margaret graduated from Georges P. Vanier Secondary School in Courtenay and moved to Vancouver where she graduated from Vancouver Technical College and enjoyed a successful career as a court reporter. She married George Lawson in 1987 and they moved to Fort Myers, Florida. Margaret worked for Lee County Government from June 1987 until September 2007 with the majority of her career specializing in engineering and right of way research in the Lee County Department of Transportation. She was a member of the International Right of Way Association and remained proud of her work and contribution to the growth and success of Lee County.
Margaret was a loving, devoted, and proud mother to her daughter Sarah Lawson, who grew up in Fort Myers and is now a registered nurse. Margaret moved back to Vancouver Island in 2007 to help her aging mother Verna, including organizing Verna's beautiful 90th birthday party in 2011. When Verna passed away in 2015, Margaret returned to Fort Myers where she enjoyed a restful retirement.
Margaret is predeceased by her half-brother Eugene Loverock and her half-sister Joan Wilson (Loverock). Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sarah and Sarah's fiancé Brian Savakinus, her sister and brother-in-law Patty Loverock and Neil Ayers, her niece Jessica Ayers, her ex-husband George Lawson and the extended Lawson family, her many friends in Fort Myers and Courtenay, and her beloved dog Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be sent to Gulf Coast Humane Society, Fort Myers, Florida at www.gulfcoasthumanesociety.org or the BC SPCA at spca.bc.ca/donate/ in Canada.
