October 14, 1929 - October 8, 2021
In loving memory ~ Mom died peacefully on the morning of Friday, Oct. 8. She had many health issues but rebounded several times so we, her children Debra and Stephen, were surprised and grateful in the end that a heart attack allowed her to go quickly.
Mom was born in Burnaby, BC. She is predeceased by her parents, Evelyn and George Forshaw, our dad Joe, and their child who died at birth. She is survived by her children Debra Bowman (Bob), and Stephen Wallace (Linda), 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is also predeceased by and leaves behind a large immediate and extended family. Mom also leaves a circle of friends from her church St. George's United in Courtenay, her weaving circle, and others she met along the way.
A source of pride for mom was that she attended Pitman Business College. She worked outside the home as a secretary in several places, and then was at home with us. She supported dad as he went to university and graduated to become a teacher.
After they were married Mom and Dad lived in Chilliwack for many years. When dad became a teacher in 1968, we moved to Cumberland and then Courtenay. After dad's death mom lived on her own for a few years and then moved to Berwick Comox Valley Retirement Community where she was very happy. She lived there for several years until ailing health meant she moved to The Views long term care in Comox.
We are very grateful for the care mom received in her years at Berwick Retirement Community, at North Island Hospital Comox Valley, at The Views, and from her church community. Mom liked having people around and liked the security of knowing she was well cared for - both of these were offered in abundance.
There will be an in person memorial service for Mom at St. George's United Church in Courtenay on Nov. 6 at 2:00 pm, with a reception following.
