The family of Margaret Pearse announce with sadness her peaceful passing on May 19th, 2007 at the Eagleview Extended Care Unit, Comox, BC at the age of 93 years.

Margaret is lovingly remembered by her sons, Harold (Virgina Stephen) of Edmonton, Kenneth (Christine) of Victoria and Douglas (Kathy) of Comox; grandchildren Lukas (Melissa Andrew) in Halifax, Amanda (Dustin) Batchelor, and Kathini (Bryan) Dreilich in Victoria, Kristin in Edmonton and Daniel in Comox; great-grandchildren Carmen in Victoria and Zella in Halifax; brother Fred (Pat) Crockett of Duncan and sisters Edith McNish of Comox, Alice Scott of Courtenay, and Norah Jacques of Terrace; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by husband Harold (1972), parents John and Winnifred Crockett (1960 and 1978), infant son Donald (1937), sisters Barbara (1962), Dorothy Mackie (2005) and Jean Berkeley (2006), brothers James (1985) and John (1980).

Born in 1914 at home on the family farm on Headquarters Road, Margaret attended Tsolum High School and was a member of the 1932 women’s provincial basketball championship team. A long time resident of Cumberland, she lived in Comox for the past 16 years. She was active in the Women’s Institute and enjoyed crocheting, cribbage (of which she remains the family champion) and above all, her family.

Margaret’s family extends special thanks to Marj Durrant, Edith McNish and the staff of Eagleview ECU for their devotion and care in recent months.

A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held in early August. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to a charity of your choice in her memory.
