Marilyn Adrienne Driedger

Marilyn died peacefully with her children at her side at Cumberland Lodge on November 1st, 2017 in Cumberland, BC at the age of 77.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Dianne (Don) Knoop and Don (Jennifer) Driedger; siblings, Doreen Blight (Don) and Brian Miller (Ida) of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; grandchildren Trevor and Sabrina Knoop, and Olin and Toby Driedger; and nieces, nephews and "in-laws" scattered across the country.

She is preceded in death by her husband David Driedger of Courtenay, BC; her father Don Miller and mother Mary Miller (nee Dingwall), her sisters Margaret Miller and Dawn Alayne Galbraith of Oakville and Portage la Prairie; her nephews Rick Blight of Portage la Prairie, and Ron Hogue of Calgary, Alberta.

Marilyn was born on January 21, 1940 in Oakville, Manitoba to Mary and Don Miller. She graduated from high school in 1958 and married David Driedger in 1963. After moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Marilyn began working for Hudson's Bay Co. as an IBM entry clerk.

Over the new few years the couple welcomed two children into their home and moved their family to Royston, BC where they ran Karl's Kove Kabins on what is now the Kingfisher Inn site. They moved to Courtenay in 1974 and after a few years created and operated Dave's Electric Ltd. Until 2011.

Her children remember her as generous with her time and love, supportive of their dreams and goals and tolerant of their antics. Her family and friends will miss Marilyn's sense of humor as well as her baking, canning and less so her white wine.

Marilyn enjoyed her travels to various cities in the USA, as well as international destinations such as Span and Portugal. Although she didn't gripe about it, she spent many hours in ice rinks watching her grandchildren play hockey, and the small BC and Alberta towns where those games were played were unlikely on her list of travel destinations.

Funeral services will be privately held. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian National institute for the Blind (online www.cnib.ca or 1-80-563-2642).
