CHRISTENSEN (nee: Spinney)

Marina

1935 - 2008

My darling wife and dearest friend, of over 42 years passed away very peacefully on February 20, 2008. She was in my arms and at her side were two of her best friends, Shirley Sarlin and Betty Lou Carver. She was predeceased by her parents Maynard and Laura Spinney. Marina will be lovingly remembered by her husband Del, her brother Gerald (Anna) Spinney, Del's sister Pearl Elson (John), great-nieces Kathy Elson and Joan Yee.

During her life Marina developed friendships around the world. She will be greatly missed by all of her Square Dance and Probus friends and especially by her loving husband and best friend Del.

Marina was born in Berwick, NS on March 20, 1935 and graduated from Mack College in Kentville, NS in 1952. While square dancing, she met the love of her life Del Christensen and the two married on June 15, 1966. They continued to dance together for a wonderful 43 years. Marina accompanied her husband on postings throughout Canada and Europe which allowed her to form many wonderful friendships. She retired from the workforce in 1995 and enjoyed retirement years traveling and living a relaxed life. Marina took pleasure from good company, square dancing, camping and card playing, but knitting and quilting were her passions.

A Celebration of Marina's Life will be held at the Comox United Church, 250 Beach on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 2:00 pm. We wish to thank Dr. Naaykens, the home support team, and Hospice Society for their support. In lieu of flowers a donation in memoriam to the YANA Fund Society, Box 3159, Courtenay, V9N 5N4 would be appreciated.

Marina and Del had a beautiful life together and may she rest in peace.
