Passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox. Predeceased by father, Jack Attwell and mother Frieda Elsa Doye. Survived by husband, Blake James Craig, sons; Fr. Shayne Earl Craig, Jack Attwell McDonald, Douglas Allen McDonald, grandchildren, Christopher Aaron McDonald, Stephen Andrew McDonald, Katie Ann McDonald, Nicholas Alexander McDonald and great grandchild, Keegan McDonald, brother, Harry (Marielle) Attwell from Edmonton, brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Gerene Craig from Summerside, PEI, Norma and Laurie Pealey of Comox, Jean and Jordan Grahonja of Toronto, and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, Frank Doye, Gertrude Baker, Emma Kiesen (deceased), Harry Doye (deceased) and Eric Doye (deceased).


Marlene worked in numerous and different jobs over the years, including work as a nanny, waitressing in the Comox Coffee Shop, managing the Stellar Cellar Video Arcade and managing other coffee shops in the Comox Mall.


Marlene had an artistic bent that showed itself in her love of sketching, sewing, knitting, and gardening. She loved to go camping and fishing with her husband, and loved cooking and entertaining. She also loved playing card games of all sorts – Canasta, Hearts, but especially Bridge.


Marlene was passionately devoted to her husband Jim, and son Shayne. With a big and generous heart, she was never stingy, but always as ready to reach out to others as she was to speak her own mind. The past few years, Marlene battled memory loss arising from vascular dementia.


The Funeral Mass will be held in Christ the King Parish, Monday July 23rd at 1:30pm followed by a reception in Assisi Hall, lower level of Christ the King.
