MORGAN, Marlene Odette (nee Hughes)
1960 - 2011
Born on the 2nd of April, 1960. She passed away suddenly on May 3, 2011 from complications arising from a lengthy illness. Marlene was born in Terrace, B.C. to Melvin and Henriette Hughes, their 5th child the 2nd of twins (Micheal).
She lived in Terrace until she was 12 when the family moved to Courtenay. She met her husband Bruce as a teenager and fell in love with him. Their love lasted over 30 years and resulted in two children and 4 grandchildren.
Marlene worked in management at Zellers for many years and was well known and very well liked. She was forced to retire shortly after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 1999. Over the next 12 years she fought an amazing battle displaying a courage and fortitude unimaginable.
She did her utmost to stay active and to be proactive in her battle against her illness. Sadly it wasn't enough. Marlene had many friends and family that will miss her very much.
Marlene was predeceased by her mom, dad, mother-in-law (Elsie Morgan) and younger brother Kevin. She leaves behind her husband Bruce, her children Crystal (Ryan Coney) and Jamie, 4 beautiful grandbabies; Camryn, Michelle, Joseph and Raquel. Siblings Sylvia (Grant Douglas), Bob (Laura), Don (Cindy), Michael (Roberta) and Denise (Ken Rogerman) as well as her best girlfriend Rosemary Webber and many more too numerous to mention (you know who you are).
A Celebration of Marlene's Life will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 1pm. 4488 Marsden Road, Courtenay. Please, bring a nice fragrant flower(s) to honour Marlene's love of them.
