They moved to British Columbia in 1934, and settled on what would be the family farm in Merville, British Columbia. Martha lived on the farm for the rest of her life, almost 70 years.

Oma is survived by her two daughters: Ella (Reimer) and Martha (Sig); six grandchildren: Christine (Paul), Natalie (Steven), Martin (Lisa), Carmen (Daryl), Therese (Paul), Sandra (Josh); five great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Amelia, Sam, Abigail and Sage. Oma was predeceased by her husband in 1981, her son Albert in 1959 and her grandson Michael in 1966.

Oma loved to work outside, and took great pride in her independence, garden, family and friends. She remained on the farm till the end, passing March 26, 2005, surrounded by family, on the farm in the home of her daughter, as she wished.
