Mary Elizabeth “Betty”

(nee: Watson)

July 1, 1918 - October 5, 2007

Betty was born July 1, 1918 in Camrose, Alberta, passed peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, B.C. on October 5, 2007. Predeceased by her husband Stanley B. Green in 2003. Survived by her only son Stephen Douglas Green, and family (wife Joyce and sons, Travis and Aaron) of North Saanich, B.C. Lovingly remembered by three cousins, by many nieces and nephews in Canada, the United States, and Great Britain.

The Watson family were pioneers in West Vancouver. Betty served her country in the Second World War as a cypher specialist in the Royal Canadian Air Force at Jerico and Ottawa. Following the war, she worked as a secretary to the Municipal Clerk in West Vancouver. From 1954 to 1975, she was housewife and mother, supported Stan’s R.C.M. Police career in postings to Zeballos, Victoria, Tofino, Port Alberni, and Powell River. From 1975 to 1984, Stan’s tenure with the British Columbia Highway Ferry system brought them to Comox where they also retired.

Betty will be remembered by many friends and members of St. John the Divine Anglican Church, the RCMP Veteran’s Association, and the Comox Valley Golf Club.
