Parkin , Mary Helen

August 29, 1914 ~ September 25, 2009

Gone to be with her Lord Jesus

Predeceased by her parents, George and Nora Babcock, her husband Vic, son George Parkin, daughter Donna Robertson, granddaughter Cheryl Parkin and eight of her brothers and sisters.

Survived by daughters Nonie (Red) McClure and Marilyn Paisley, daughter in law Jean Parkin, sons in law Jim Robertson, and Wayne Paisley as well as sixteen grandchildren, forty three great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Born in Regina, Sask., the first of twelve children, she moved to Headquarters in 1920 and married Vic in 1934. They were married sixty four years when Vic passed away in 1998. Both were long time members of the Courtenay Fellowship Baptist Church.

Helen moved to Kiwanis Village after Vic passed and lived happily there until a heart attack sent her to St. Joseph’s Hospital in June of this year. She received excellent care from ICU, third floor and Eagleview and was alert until the end. She passed as she wished to, listening to the Lord’s Prayer.

Mom loved her families, personal and church, and even if she didn’t fully approve of something she still loved us and prayed for us. We will miss her.

Cremation with internment at a later date has been arranged by Kent Roduck at the Comox Valley Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be led by Pastor Rabey at Courtenay Fellowship Baptist Church, 2963 Lake Trail Road on Saturday, October 3rd at one o’clock with tea to follow downstairs.
