The family of (Kay) Harshey announces the peaceful passing of our Mom on October 5, 2016. She is predeceased by her husband John Harshey, father James Ryan, mother Mary Keenan, sisters Eva Ryan and Madaline Ryan, brother Bernard Ryan, daughter Sandra Harshey and nephew Joe Ryan.

Kay is survived by her sons John (Bev) and Mike (Penny), daughters Mary, Jean (Pete) and Suzanne (Jim), grandchildren Carrie, Simon, Michelle, Arron, Daniel, Tenèane, Caitlyn, Brittany, Chad, Josh, James, Chris, Russell, Ashley, Naiomi, great-grandchildren Taurian, Gabriel, Ethan, John, Olivia, Jennifer, Maddison, brothers Ken (Bernice) and Fred (Sandy) and sister Theresa Kerr.

Mom was a military wife. She travelled with her husband from Trenton, Manitoba, Quebec and then BC in 1961. Mom belonged to The CWL for 48 years and Courtenay Bowling League. Mom repaired radios when living in Ontario in her younger days. Once Mom had a family, she became a homemaker and did housecleaning. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards and putting on plays with the ladies of Fallen Alders Community Hall. Mom loved to go camping with friends and family and travelled back to Ontario every summer to see relatives. Mom was funny and caring. She was Mom to the neighbourhood kids. There was always an extra seat at the table for anyone that stopped by.

The family would like to thank everyone of Cumberland Lodge for making Moms stay comfortable with care and compassion, also to the 3rd floor and TCU at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dr. Tancon for years of care and Dr. Russell-Atkinson. Thanks also to Theresa Penny for helping us along the way.
