It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Mary Ruth Pattison.

Mary is survived by her daughters Maureen Smith, Carol-Ann van Reeuwyk, Darlene Newfield, sister Catherine Ralston; sister-in-law Elsie McKenzie, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Clifford, her three brothers Dan, Bill, Ron and granddaughter Lisa van Reeuwyk.

She was the eldest of five children born to John and Josephine McKenzie.

Mary was born in Pitt Meadows, B.C. and as an infant the family moved to Antigonish County, Nova Scotia.  She later returned to the Merville area at age 12 were she attended Tsolum School. She married Clifford Pattison in 1944 and moved to Stories Beach were they built a home and raised their family. The family home became a well-known landmark.

Mary worked as a baker at Campbell River Hospital and was famous for tracking flour throughout the kitchen. She also enjoyed her garden, family gatherings and a good dance.  She shared her love of life and quick wit with everyone.

In the community she was a long-standing member of the Catholic Woman's League.

Recently, Mary celebrated her 100th birthday. She was very pleased to celebrate with her family and so many friends.

The family thanks Evergreen Seniors Home for their compassion and loving care during her stay.
