Mary passed away peacefully in the late morning of December 11, 2004, with her family by her side.
She was born, the eldest of 8 children, three stepchildren, and a half brother and sister in Melville, Saskatchewan. She moved to Port Alberni in 1949 with her husband, Alfred where they raised their children, Ray and Sharon.
Mary enjoyed the finest pleasures of life: family, friends, crafts, camping, fishing, traveling and volunteering with church and community functions. Mary was known for her fantastic cooking and more often than not had many people seated at the table. She was very hospitable and always had time for everyone.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred in 2003 and her son, Ray in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Al); daughter-in-law, Shirley; grandchildren: Leona, Selena, Andrea, and Andrew; and by sisters: Tillie, Kay, Irene, Ema, Dorothy, Betty-Anne; and brothers: Ernie and Irvine.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Faith Lutheran Church in Courtenay. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; she will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
